Abstract
Micro and Small Enterprises (UMK) in Indonesia have a large contribution to the economy, as well as employment, therefore the performance of MSEs needs to be improved. More than fifty percent of MSEs are owned by women. Belitung Regency, as one of the regions with the second highest number of processing industry MSEs in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, where more than sixty percent are female MSEs.The performance of women's MSEs in Belitung Regency still experiences several obstacles, including family support, funding problems, packaging, so that the performance of SMEs is not optimal. This research aims to analyze the DETERMINING FACTORS OF WOMEN'S MICRO AND SMALL ENTERPRISE PERFORMANCE WITH PRODUCT INNOVATION AS A MEDIATOR IN BELITUNG DISTRICT. Purposive non-probability sampling was taken using specified criteria. A total of 135 female MSEs were respondents in this research, where data was obtained by distributing questionnaires via Google Form to female MSEs in Belitung Regency. In addition, to support the data from the questionnaire, an FGD was conducted with the 10 female MSEs to obtain more in-depth information. Next, the data analysis technique uses Structural Equation Modeling and the SmartPLS analysis tool version 4.0. The research results show that financial
access, social networks and product innovation have a positive and significant effect on the performance of women's MSEs in Belitung Regency. Meanwhile, family support and the adoption of digitalization directly have a positive but not significant influence on the performance of women's MSEs in Belitung Regency. With product innovation as a mediator, family support and the adoption of digitalization on the performance of women's MSEs in Belitung Regency have a positive and significant effect, so product innovation plays a role as a full mediation. MSEs, like medium and large companies, need to utilize resources to achieve competitive advantage and gain efficiency to improve performance. The novelty in this research is based on the RBV theory, as well as competitive advantage strategies, so the RBV theory can be applied to MSEs even though there are still limitations. The results of this research can be input for the local government in Belitung Regency to encourage improvement in the performance of women's MSEs through the determining factors of MSEs' performance, as well as providing input for women MSEs in Belitung Regency in an effort to improve their business performances.
