Abstract

This study aims to analyze factors influencing Generation Z's intention to use insurance technology (Insurtech) in Indonesia using an extended D-M model. The research employs a modified D-M model developed by DeLone and McLean (2003) with the addition of two variables: perceived trust and regulatory expectancy. Data was collected through an online survey of 431 Generation Z respondents aged 17 years and above residing in ten major cities
in Indonesia: DKI Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, Palembang, Medan, Balikpapan, and Makassar. The selected respondents had a basic understanding of
Insurtech. The questionnaire covered demographic data along with research variables measured on a five-point Likert scale. Data analysis was performed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the aid of Smart PLS 4 software. The collected data showed that the majority of respondents were aged 25-28 years (50.1%), resided in DKI Jakarta (59.3%), were female (60.1%), worked as private employees (41.5%), had monthly expenditures <Rp5,000,000 (51.3%), and had completed a bachelor’s degree (68.68%). Descriptive analysis indicated that respondents tended to give positive responses to all research variables, suggesting that Insurtech provides organized information content, flexible services,
knowledgeable service providers, honest services, and legal protection of personal information.
Respondents also expressed their hope to use Insurtech services soon. Evaluation of the measurement model (outer model) demonstrated that all indicators were valid and reliable based on tests of convergent validity, discriminator validity, and reliability. Evaluation of the structural model (inner model) revealed that the independent variables could explain 57% of the variation in intention to use Insurtech and 69% of the variation in perceived trust.
Furthermore, hypothesis testing showed that information quality, system quality, service quality, and regulatory expectancy had significant positive effects on intention to use Insurtech and perceived trust. However, perceived trust did not significantly influence the intention to use Insurtech, and there were no significant mediation effects. The model had good predictive
relevance and goodness of fit based on Q², NFI, and SRMR values.
