Abstract

Hyperemesis gravidarum is interruption of pregnancy that causes nausea and vomiting constantly on pregnant women causing dehydration and disturb of activity. The factors that cause the emergence of this hyperemesis gravidarum are hormone, pressure or stress and experienced when someone is being pregnant and never have a history interference when stomach aches before marriage. Therefore, victims who suffer hyperemesis gravidarum should make the process of coping during pregnancy. This study uses the theory coping of Lazarus is divided into two types, namely, problem-focused coping (Lazarus & Cohen, quoted in Sarafino, 1994) and emotion-focused coping (Lazarus & Folkman, quoted in Malim & Birch, 1998). Research method used was qualitative research and the data is done through the interview method, since June 2008-April 2009. Results of research indicate that the fourth subject is able to show both types of coping theory based on Lazarus, although four subjects also have a distinctive way in the process of coping they experienced. Support from nearest people, assist the subject in the process of coping. Based on the results of research, women who are pregnant are expected to be dissociated from the various conflicts and pressure and for women who have been married before history flank pain should be careful in the process of the pregnancy first.
