Abstract

The purpose of the research is to know the activities of students organization in University “X”. Every organization has a goal to encourage the effectivity of the organization, for that purpose hight standart of the cooperation know as Organizational Citizenship Behavior and self-motivation in every individual involved in the organization are needed. OCB is an individual self-motivaited behavior not related to reward system nor to organization policy in encouraging the organization effectivity (Organ, 1998). There are five dimensions in OCB, altruism, conscientiousness, sportmanship, civic virtue, and courtesy. OCB can be achieved if students have social motivation in their organizational activity. One motive approach in organizational behaviour is studied and developed by David McClelland (Munandar,2001), they are the need for achievement, the need for power, dan the need for affiliation. 95 students of University “X” took part in the research, range in age from 17 -30 years old. 44 male participants and 51 female participants. The research instrument is quistionaire with OCB and social motive as variabels in result, can be conclude that there is not a significant correlation between OCB and social motive on the students of University “X”.
