Abstract
The purpose of this study is to achieve a clear and concise image of values and needs of women who choose a career as a commercial sex worker . This research is done using the interview method. Additionally , this research was held from February 2005 to June 2005 . And the theory that the writer used is motivational type of values by Schwartz (1992, 1994) and hierarchy of needs by Maslow (1987). There are five subjects from the West Jakarta area that the writer interviewed for the purpose of this research. And the result of the study shows that most of motivational values can be found within the subjects, only with different variations and emphasis, and a few of them seem dominant. Only stimulation and self-direction values are not found in some of the subjects. In addition, the need fulfilments for all the five subjects are placed only on the first level of needs, which is fisiologic need. The need for safety and the need of love belongingness from all the five subjects have not been fulfilled as a whole.
