Abstract
"ln response to the era of globalization, PERUM Pegadaian needs to consistently improve its human resources to keep up with the competition and increasing community demands by implementing corporate culture. Corporate culture is a tool to unify methods and perceptions of all PERUM Pegadaian staff to achieve the company’s goals underlined in its business plan. According to Robbins (1996), job satisfaction is recognised as one of the factors which determines company performance. Therefore, the objective of this research is to examine the relationship between corporate culture and job satisfaction. The research is a descriptive study using two questionnaires. The questionnaire on corporate culture consists of 10 aspects; individual initiative, tolerance to the risk, directions, integrity, management supports, controls, identity, reward system, tolerance to conflicts and patters of communications. The other questionnaire jobs relating to satisfaction consist of 4 aspects; mentally challenging work, equitable rewards, supportive working conditions and supportive colleagues. The SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) program was utilised to process the data. The result of this research shows that there is a positive correlation between corporate culture and job satisfaction. This means that if corporate culture increases, this will have a significant effect on increasing job satisfaction. Furthermore, the research shows that the level of corporate culture at PERUM Pegadaian Kantor Pusat Jakarta is strong. Its employees are satisfied to joint at PERUM Pegadaian Kantor Pusat Jakarta. From the analysis, the research found that the aspect of corporate culture which most greatly influence an employee’s job satisfaction is tolerance to conflict. Therefore, the management at PERUM Pegadaian Kantor Pusat Jakarta need to pay more attention to this aspect as it has significant influence on its employee’s job satisfaction. "
