Abstract
The existence of a student in a college is not just coming from cities where universities are located, but also come from outside the city. The reason is because of the desire to get an education at the best universities not found in the area of origin. As a student must have a wander demands greater independence in terms of both duties and responsibilities. Self-reliance is the ability of individuals to behave as they wish, take their own decisions and able to take responsibility for their own behavior. One of the factors that influence the development of self-reliance is a parenting parents. This study aimed to examine the differences in independence in students who go abroad in Jakarta. Data collected by using a questionnaire based on the theory of parenting parents Baumrind. Dilakukuan research on 208 subjects using non-quantitative research design experiments. Based on the analysis using One-Way ANOVA, the results showed that there was no difference independence of students who go abroad in Jakarta when the review of parenting parents, residence, and age of the subject. After that, based on the results of the analysis using the Independent Sample T-Test also showed that there were no differences in student independence wander in Jakarta when the review of the sex of the subject
