Abstract
This Study examined associations between religious orientation and sociosexuality. Religious orientation is defined as people’s perspective on religion and its affect the relation between their behavior toward the religion they believe. Religious orientation divided into two orientation which are intrinsic orientation and extrinsic orientation. Sociosexuality is an orientation that people have when they do mate selection. Two kinds of sociosexuality orientation are restricted orientation and unrestricted orientation. The goal of this study was to see how strong the association between religious orientation and sociosexuality. Participants (n = 221) in this study were Catholic, married and who were in young adulthood period and were chosen using the accidental sampling method. Using Allport’s religious orientation theory and Simpson and Gangestad’s sociosexuality theory, the result for intrinsic orientation ρ = 0.027 and for extrinsic orientation p = 0.008 showed that there was strong association between religious orientation and sociosexuality.
