Abstract
The aim of this research to find out correlation between body image satisfaction and interpersonal competence. Body image satisfaction is the degree of satisfaction about discrete parts of one’s body. Body image satisfaction can be defined as an appearance evaluation, appearance orientation, fitness evaluation, fitness orientation, health evaluation, health orientation, illness orientation, body-areas satisfaction scale, self-classified weight, and overweight preoccupation. Interpersonal competence is one’s ability to communicate effectively. Interpersonal competence can be seen in initiative, assertiveness, self disclosure, emotional support, and conflict management aspects. Data collection in this research is using quantitative methods with non-probability sampling technique. Subjects of this research are 100 early adolescent girls whose age are between 12 years – 15 years old. The result shows significant correlation between two dimensions of body image satisfaction are health orientation and body-areas satisfaction scale with interpersonal competence.
