Abstract
Children having motivation to learn is usually those who have tendency to find academic activities to be meaningful and worthwhile and they try to derlve the intended academic benefits from them as well. Parent's role and teacher's role become two main factors in developing childrens motivation to learn. There are three purposes of this study, the first one is to know whether there is a relationship between the children's perception of parent's role to their motivation to learn, the second one is to know whether there is a relationship between the children'sperception of teacher's role to their motivation to learn, and the third one is to knowwhether there is a relationship between the children's perception of parent's role and teacher's role to their motivation to learn. The data in this study was obtained from242 students of two elementary schools (SD lslam Al-Azhar Kemang & SD Islam Al- Azhar Kebayoran Lama) in Jakarta. The data collection was done using a questioner based on Likert's Summated Rating Scale. Data analysis to be done by usingpearson Product Moment and Regression calculation with the assistance of SPSS rersion 11, 00. The result of this study shows that there is significant relationship between children's perception of parent's role to their motivation to learn, rxy (242) 0,914 p < 0, 05 and shows that there is significant relationship between children's perception of teacher's role to their motivation to learn, rxy (242) = 0, 900 p < 0, 05. Moreover, the result also shows that there are significant effect between children's perception of parent's role and teacher's role to their motivation to learn, Y = 64, 654 +2,353X1+O,533X2p<0,05.
