Abstract
Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have difficulties in social interaction and it has a negative impact on their development. This study aims to see the result of theraplay to improving social interaction between mother and child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Methods used in this research is quasi experimental design that measures a change that occurs in social interaction before and after given intervention. A method of sampling used is mixed sampling method, who combined purposive sampling, and confirming sampling. Participants in this research is 3 pairs of mother and child with ASD who having low social interaction with a score of social interaction below average based on Social Interaction Rating Scale (SIRS). The research results show the application of theraplay implemented as many as 15 (fifteen) session effective to accelerate social interaction between mother and child with ASD.
