Abstract
This research tried to figure out the self-esteem of Bataknese young adulthood woman with no boys offspring. Self-esteem is a self evaluation which made by an individual, someone’s attitude toward himself in positive-negative dimension. By the time these Bataknese women knew that they could not give birth sons, they reacted in various ways. The common reaction were feel pressured and depressed because of Bataknese culture and view. In this view, Bataknese sons play an important role in their family to continue the family name. The interviews were conducted between February 14, 2009 until April 8, 2009 with three respondents whose age between 30-40 years old. This research showed that in the beginning, all respondents felt depressed. As the time goes on, they can accept their condition. The respondents have positive self-esteem to face their condition with no boys offspring.
