Abstract
In China there were comparative studies on marital satisfaction between marital couples whose marriage were planned by match makers or by their parents and they who got married based on their on choices. Similar researches were also found in India and in the USA. Researches in China and those in India and in the USA showed contradictory results between one another. These inconsistent results on the researches and the increase numbers of divorce in Indonesia triggered some questions associated with the marrital satisfaction in Indonesia among couples who got married based on planned marital relations and those who got married by their personal choices. Nine couples who got married by planned marital relations and 16 couples who got married by personal choices participated in this research. Their marital relations have lasted for at least 10 years. Results indicate that there was no difference on marital satisfaction between couples who were planned by match-makers and who planned to get married by their personal choices.
