Abstract

"This research aims to determine the self-concept in young adults women who had committed to Eyelid surgery. Self-concept has three dimensions, that is : (a) Self-knowledge; and (b) Self-expectation (Calhoun dan Acocella, 1990). Each dimension was analyzed based on three components division (Hurlock, 1976), namely: (a) The perceptual component, (b) The conceptual component, and (c) The attitudinal component. According to Rogers (In semium, 2006), a person has good self-concept if it has an accurate fit or Congruence between self-image and reality. In this research, subjects were young adult women aged 21-40 years and had undergone Eyelid-surgery type of aesthetic surgery. The interview process with all three subjects have been conducted since September 2011 to October 2011. From the research, found that self-concept in all three subjects experienced gaps or Incongruence. The gap occurs because of a sense of dissatisfaction that appears on the attitudinal component. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the picture of self-concept in all three subjects in this study is negative. "
