Abstract
Long distance relationship is an unique form of relationship. Unlike the common form of relationship, couples who are involved in this relationship live in different countries. It is challenging if couples are physically separated due to particular circumstances, any personal reasons, education or employment. The distance can be such an obstacle to the durability or relationship itself. Nevertheless, trust is the foundation and core of every kind of relationship, including long distance relationship. This research was conducted toward six young-adult participants (three couples) who have been involving in long distance relationship for more than two years. Interview method has been undertaken from December 27th 2012 until February 13th 2013. This research concluded that two in three pairs of subject fulfilled five characteristics of trust (attention, acceptance, appreciation, affection, and allowing). However, the rest only fulfilled four of five characteristics. These characteristics of trust are called mutual trust. Thus, when an individual has ability to trust his/her partner, the partner will eventually trust him/her back, vice versa.
