Abstract
" Volunteers are not only move in the scope of human welfare, there are also some that move in the scope of animal welfare. When one chooses to be an animal welfare volunteer, he or she surely has some motivations behind it. This research is done to give a clear picture about the motivations behind those people. Generally, motivation is some drive or individual reasons in doing something (Deckers, 2010). In depth interview was done to five different animal welfare volunteer that rescue abandoned cats and dogs. These volunteers have done their rescuing activity for at least one year. This research was held in five months time, starting from February 2013 until June 2013. The result of this research shows that all five subjects have both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation sources, and also have several needs that are fulfilled because of the animal rescuing activity. "
