Abstract
" HIV positive is a disease classified as a chronic disease. HIV positive experienced by individuals affects many things when individuals must carry out care for children, one of which impacts on their self-efficacy. Feist and Feist (2006) explain that individuals with unhealthy physiological conditions can influence the ability of self-efficacy in dealing with daily activities, such as individuals can lose confidence, feel apathetic and helpless so they do not get optimal results. The purpose of this study was to determine self-efficacy in parenting for HIV-positive mothers. This study uses a qualitative method of in-depth interviews as a way to retrieve data and measuring parental self-efficacy as a support for the results of interviews. The study lasted for three months, from October 2013 to December 2013. The study involved three maternal subjects (25-40 years) who were HIV-positive and carried out parenting. This study found that all HIV positive subjects can still have the ability to carry out good parenting with healthy physical conditions, such as being able to have good attachment relationships with children, being able to meet children's needs, educating children in an educational and moral manner, and teach children to be responsible individuals. This shows that subjects who have high self-efficacy that is high are obtained from the success of ARV therapy, the support of family and friends, and the low level of stress and anxiety of the subject."
