Abstract

The authors explored differences in self-disclosure based on the conflict style courtship early adulthood. On the basis of the dependency variable conflict style (Wilmot & Hocker, 2011), the authors hypothesized that conflict styles would shape people respond when faced with a problem. Several types of conflict styles that involved are (1) Avoidance, (2) Competing, (3) compromising, (4) accommodating, and (5) Collaborating. Individual conflict styles will different based on the independent variables of self-disclosure (DeVito, 2001), Self-disclosure is an important component in social life. Self-disclosure facilitates the development of new intimate relationships and helps to maintain an ongoing relationship. So if the spouse who has the quality of self-disclosure relationship and good communication, it can improve the quality of conflict resolution better look at in terms of the interests of both parties, in this case is that the dating relationship. The aim of this study was to examine differences in self-disclosure based on the conflict style courtship early adulthood. Samples totaling 250 people, were taken by purposive sampling technique and instruments are given a questionnaire with Likert scale to measure Self-Disclosure and Conflict Styles. Analyze of the research data using One Way Anova on the significance level at 0.05. Based on the analysis of data obtained value of F = 4,298 and p = 0.001> 0.05. The research hypothesis is accepted. The study states that there are differences in self-disclosure based on the conflict style courtship early adulthood.
