Abstract
Optimistic bias has an effect towards smoking behavior in female teenagers. These female teenagers already know about the negative effect caused by smoking. But, they think that they will not be affected by the negative effects of smoking, especially the ones that can happen to women such as fertility problem and miscarriage. Optimistic bias can be caused by egocentric, misperception, and motivational causes. This research is designed to see the portrayal of the cause of smoking optimistic bias in female teenagers. The method use in this research is quantitative and qualitative methods. In this research, the data is collected from 50 subjects and that include interview to 4 subjects that have the highest score among them. The criteria of subject in this research is female teenagers between 11-24 years old whose smoke. The result of this research shows that the cause of optimistic bias on 4 subjects are the feeling of egocentric, and misperception. However, motivational causes only occurred on one subject. This research, female teenagers show optimistic bias in smoking habit.
