Abstract
Attachment is the reciprocal biological, emotional tie between infants and main caregivers to ensure the survival. Attachment has an important role in the children’s psychological aspects. 36% adopted children were classified as having disorganized attachment. The purpose of this study is to obtain an overview of the formation of attachment in adopted child. This study used qualitative method. In-depth interviews were done with a couple who adopted a child. The result indicate that the couple managed to deal with the parenthood transition smoothly. There are some factors that support the transition to the parenthood such as helps from others and coparenting among parents. The formation of attachment properly fulfilled. The child developed attachment to father and mother, because they are able to be warm and responsive parents. This relationship can be seen by the child’s behaviour when he is sick and scared. The child is in the phase of clear-cut attachment. The conclusion on this research is that the participants whom adopted child could make close attachment with secure attachment pattern.
