Abstract
The use of the Internet in this day and age has become a necessity, both in daily life or work needs. As something that is still relatively new, its use and utilization must be regulated in adequate regulations. As an effort to regulate and regulate the Government of Indonesia, the Government of Indonesia has issued Law Number 11 of 2008 which was later amended in Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (UU ITE). Social media and its content are one of the components of digital technology regulated in the ITE Law. Social media itself is a form of interactive technology that facilitates internet users to share information, images, ideas, and various other expressive things through the internet. The use of social media at this time can be said to be one of the main needs and has an important role in people's lives, both for things that are still simple and up to things that are complex in use. So that at this time, social media is very easy to access anywhere and anytime to connect users to interact with each other on a global scale. Social media users themselves are not limited to various circles in it, ranging from young people to the elderly. Internet users who are still at a young age themselves tend to be more active and creative in creating and uploading various content on social media. However, apart from the presence of social media as a positive instrument in helping people's mobility; this does not rule out the presence of a problem from the use of social media in society, especially for the younger generation or what is commonly called the millennial generation. The expected outcome with this counseling is to educate the younger generation about the understanding of the ITE Law so that they can be wiser in determining the social media content that is created or distributed, so as not to damage the potential that exists in their future. Keywords: Social Media, Information and Electronic Transaction Law, Internet, Young Generation
