Abstract
The focus of this study is the relationship between ex-drug abused male adolescents and their fathers. Drug abuse is a seriously growing concern in today's adolescent community. Male adolescents are more prone to drug abuse compared to their female counterparts. Disharmonious relationship with parents is one of the main factors that can lead to this problem. Fathers are normally treated as family role models, especially by their sons. Men demonstrate greater tendency to identify themselves with their fathers compared to women. Therefore , a father's attitude and how he treats his son will deeply impact on his son's character development. This study relies on interview method. The subject of study comprises five persons who are ex-drug abusers. The study was conducted from May 2006 to October 2006. The results indicate that in fact, there had been unsatisfactory relationships between the subjects and their fathers before they became drug abusers. Some of the subjects even cannot improve the relationships with their fathers, even though they have recovered from drug abuse.
