Abstract
In general, serious dating will aim at marriage. dating is one form of relationship characterized by love, commitment, and self-disclosure. The purpose of this study is to review the meaning or meaning of dating in adolescence at this time with parents so that parents and society know the views of adolescents on the meaning of dating and know the difference in the meaning of dating from a teenager's perspective with the meaning of dating from a parent's perspective. Participants who participated numbered 302 people with the specifications of 151 teenagers and 151 parents who were spread from X. University X schools, and the surrounding environment. This study uses the Mann-Whitney difference test method and is included in a cross-sectional study. The results of the Mann-Whitney test differ significantly between adolescents and parents in the definition aspects of dating, the purpose of dating, and the impact of courtship analyzed per item. So, from the results of the data obtained, there is a significant difference between adolescents and parents in the effects of dating. From these three dimensions, it can be concluded that there are significant differences regarding the meaning of the dating concept between adolescents and parents.
