Abstract

E-wallet is an application on a smartphone that can be used by users to store money or to transact electronically. The adoption of e-wallets as a payment tool can be explained by the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), which explains the adoption of new technology by examining variables such as perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, attitude, and intention to use the technology. This study aims to investigate the influence of perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, compatibility, security, and health on attitudes and intentions to use ewallets among Generation X living in several cities on Java Island in adopting electronic wallets in the post-pandemic era. This research method is quantitative, conducted by surveying using a questionnaire. A total of 363 questionnaires were collected and processed using SmartPLS ver. 3.2.9 software and path analysis. The results of this study found that the perceived ease of use did not have an impact on attitudes and intentions, while perceived usefulness, security, and health aspects positively influenced attitudes. Usefulness, compatibility, security, and health aspects were found to positively influence intentions. The novelty of this research is the finding that the perceived ease of use does not influence attitudes and intentions among Generation X during the Covid-19 endemic period in several cities on Java Island. Based on the mediation effect testing, this research confirms that the attitude variable can act as a mediating variable, positively mediating the security and health aspects variables (with indicators developed according to the endemic Covid-19 situation) towards the intention to use e-wallets. This study also found that Generation X in several cities on Java
Island has different results compared to previous studies conducted on younger generations, particularly regarding the perceived ease of use, which does not influence attitudes or intentions to use e-wallets.
