Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of career growth opportunities, occupational stress, and work life balance on turnover intention with organizational commitment as a mediating
variable in private bank employees. The sample size in this study was 239 respondents working in two private banks in Jakarta through a purposive sampling technique. The data were analyzed using SmartPLS 4.0. The results of the analysis show that career growth opportunities, occupational stress, and work-life balance have a significant positive effect on turnover intention and organizational commitment. However, organizational commitment also has a significant positive effect on turnover intention, so it has not been able to reduce employee turnover intention. In the mediation test, organizational commitment actually strengthens the influence of the three variables on turnover intention.
This means that in the competitive context of private banking, employee commitment has not been able to be a restraining factor for remaining in the company. Overall, the results of this study confirm that work stress is the main factor that increases turnover intention in private bank employees. Meanwhile, career growth opportunities and work-life balance have been shown to increase organizational commitment, but are not strong enough to directly suppress turnover intention. Thus, companies need to prioritize work stress management and strengthening organizational commitment as important strategies in reducing employee turnover.
